Description
The EGIG primary drive basket is compatible with all clutches based on the original component from the Vespa PK XL II model, while being compatible with all primary drive cogs. They are balanced and weighted and are very solidly built.
The components located between the crankshaft and input shaft play a central role in the drive train of the Vespa smallframe engine. Firstly, the choice of the correct primary drive ratio to enable the motor to deliver power in the required rev range for each individual set up. Secondly an effective shock absorption, avoiding potentially expensive damage to the gearbox while extending its service life. Thirdly, the basket contains the clutch and is responsible for a stable transmission of power between the motor and gearbox. In highly tuned engines it must also offer sufficient room for the larger clutch types involved.
