I tried a 56 as recommended if derestricted but it made it far too rich. I've tried various needle heights which makes a marginal difference but not a cure.
At the moment it dies after 1/2 throttle on the stand unless i build the revs up first. It's like the 53 is too big!

Have also tried running it with the secondary air system disconnected to eliminate a blocked exhaust; made no difference.

Am i supposed to change the needle if i change the main jet?

It’s a nice day so see if you can get anyone to come down.
